Enjoy a celebration of art and history at the “Paint Historic Belleville” Plein Air Art Auction on the Square

On Saturday, September 20, twelve regional artists will set up their easels on the streets of downtown Belleville – painting en plein air (French for “in the open air”) – to create original paintings of historic buildings and sites in Belleville. At 1 p.m. their paintings will be available for sale at an auction at East Main and Jackson streets downtown. All proceeds will support preservation efforts in Belleville.

This year’s auction will be held downtown in conjunction with Belleville’s Bicentennial Oktoberfest Celebration. You are invited to visit the sites to watch the artists as they paint (locations are listed below).

• 8 a.m. –  12 p.m. Artists paint at 12 historic sites in and near downtown Belleville (listed below)
• 1 p.m. Auction of paintings at intersection of East Main and South Jackson Streets (just north of the Belleville Public Library); proceeds benefit the Belleville Historical Society
